Program/ project Title: Pacific Island Communities Advocacy Worker
Program/ project overview: Enhance understanding and participation of all Pacific Island groups in community life and to build relationships between Pacific Island communities, service providers (Government & NGOs) and other community organisations.
Primary Focus:
- Promote community understanding of the issues that affect Pacific Island Communities
- Provide advocacy and policy advice to government and non-government agencies about the issues affecting PI communities
- Facilitate community capacity building initiatives with PI communities to increase their participation in local, political, social and economic life
- Provide and inform Pacific Island communities of their rights and responsibilities as members of the community
- Improved communication of the needs of Pacific Island Communities to government and non-government service providers, including advocating for culturally inclusive service delivery and working collaboratively with government and non-government service providers to develop responses to issues.
- Increased the level of knowledge and participation by members of Pacific Island communities in government processes, planning, and policy development & decision-making.
Referral Criteria:
Pacific Island Communities Advocacy worker is the referral linkage between communities, individuals and service providers
