Centre based respites
Centre based respites are targeted to frail older people from a non-English speaking background. The respite days are Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 3pm.
Language based respites
There are six language specific respites, which are rotated on Fridays. As they are language specific respites, each group of clients enjoy a respite one Friday every six weeks. Language groups include Spanish, Samoan, Romanian, Hungarian, Polish, Russian and the Former Yugoslavian countries.
Multicultural respites
The other days, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday are multicultural respites, where many people from different countries get together. They are mixed linguistic / cultural respites.
Transport
MCC provides transport to HACC eligible MCC clients who are able to be independent but need support with getting to and from doctors and other specialist appointments.
If you require more information regarding these Government funded services please view the Queensland Government Health and Community Care website.
