Integrated Migrant and Cultural Services

Integrated Migrant and Cultural Services (IMACS) provides a range of services to assist ethnic communities in the Logan area and surrounding suburbs to build capacity within their own communities to meet their own needs. The program links communities to information and services available and supports ethnic community members to overcome barriers to access and equity.

Pacific Islander Advocacy Service The Pacific Island Advocacy Project focuses on social planning, social advocacy, group advocacy, connecting with local, state-wide or national projects, government and non-government organisations, service support and development activities, raising awareness of service providers to the needs and issues of Pacific Island communities.

This service aims to enhance understanding and participation of Pacific Islander groups in community life and build relationships between Pacific Island communities, government and community organisations. This service covers the areas of Logan, Ipswich and Deception Bay.

Emergency Relief is available to community members to provide financial assistance to people facing financial hardship. Financial assistance is available for payment of utility accounts and other types of emergencies which is dependent on availability of funding. Please ring to see if you live in our catchment area. The No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) provides interest-free loans for individuals or families living on low incomes from Migrant and Refugee background. NILS is a community-based program which allows people to access fair, safe and equitable credit for the purchase of goods and services. NILS can be utilised for the purchase of essential household items including washing machines, fridges and televisions though it may also be provided to meet other essential needs including education related costs or health aids. NILS cannot be used for emergency relief, bond or rent money, living expenses or debt repayment. For further information on NILS contact MultiLink directly on 3808 4463.

MultiLink’s GEL Program provides advocacy and support services for communities in Logan City. This service is delivered by Community Natural Helpers, many of whom a leaders in these communities, which include:

  • Burmese
  • Burundian
  • Samoan

The GEL program assists community members and their families to navigate the health and social sector as well as promoting and building health and well being within communities.

The free service provides information about chronic health and health Cultural Cooking and Gardening experiences. One on One consultations with Natural Helpers provide referral options to assist people with a range of life issues including health, finances, housing, unemployment, lack of language support.
